Wike emphasized that amending the procurement law could eliminate bureaucratic hurdles that delay project execution in the nation’s capital.

He stated, “One of our significant challenges is the procurement law. While its purpose is to safeguard our funds, it ultimately holds us back.” He pointed out that some procurement processes can take nearly four months for approval.

Reflecting on his previous experience as governor, Wike mentioned, “We had to amend similar laws back then. We established a policy where we would pay 70 percent for every job completed with Julius Berger. This approach enabled us to construct 12 flyovers within four years.”

Wike also expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for his support in facilitating capital project execution as the FCT Minister.
