Wike stressed the importance of not tolerating criminal activities in Abuja, ensuring the police and other security agencies will soon be equipped with additional communication devices and tools to boost their intelligence gathering and operational efficiency.

Recent reports highlight that Abuja has encountered nearly 50 kidnapping cases in the last three years, affecting over 200 individuals.

The escalating insecurity in the nation’s capital has sparked concern from various quarters, prompting a call for urgent solutions.

Addressing the raised security concerns, Dalhatu Ezekiel, the Commissioner for Public Complaints in the Federal Capital Territory, appealed to the Federal Government to prioritize the security situation in the area, suggesting the declaration of a state of emergency if deemed necessary.

He also urged Minister Wike to contemplate halting ongoing projects to address this pressing issue directly impacting the lives of FCT residents.
