Wike: Progress Update Shows 98% Completion Of FCT Road Projects

Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, announced that the majority of key road projects within the city are nearing completion, with an impressive 98 percent progress. These developments are slated for inauguration by May 29, coinciding with President Bola Tinubu’s first anniversary.

Wike conveyed this update after conducting inspections on various ongoing projects, including the Southern Parkway stretching from the National Christian Centre to Ring Road 1, as well as the Outer Southern Expressway (OSEX) from Villa Roundabout to Ring Road 1, and the official residence of the Vice President.

In his statement, Wike affirmed, “We have upheld our commitment to the residents of Abuja. These endeavors not only fulfill our promises but also demonstrate the potential for enhanced urban mobility and infrastructure under the Renewed Hope Agenda.”

Among the projects nearing completion are the B6 and B12 Circle Road, commonly known as Independence and Constitution Avenue, and the comprehensive development of the Arterial Road N20 from Northern Parkway (Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Expressway) to Outer Northern Expressway (Murtala Mohammed Expressway).

Additionally, the Wuye Interchange and Guzape Lot II District Infrastructure are progressing well and are slated to become operational by May.

Wike acknowledged the significant support received from the President and reiterated their dedication to ensuring timely completion of these projects, aimed at alleviating traffic congestion and enhancing connectivity within the city.

Executive Secretary of the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), Engr. Shehu Hadi Ahmad, echoed the Minister’s sentiments during the inspection, highlighting the anticipated benefits in reducing traffic bottlenecks and enhancing transportation efficiency in Abuja.

The contractors involved affirmed their commitment to meeting the May deadline, aligning their efforts with the government’s objectives and contributing to essential infrastructure enhancements vital for the city’s growth and development.
