Wike Promises Fireworks: Abuja Set For Next Big Political Showdown

He declared that he is fully prepared for any confrontation as he begins another round of project flag-offs and commissionings in the nation’s capital.

Speaking at the flag-off of the construction of the Arterial Road N1, linking Wuye District to Ring Road II, on Thursday, Wike told contractors who are not serious about their work to “stay away.”

“Very soon, we will be flagging off the project to light up the entire Abuja, and that is when the real fight will begin,” Wike said. “Every day I see files with requests for maintenance of streetlights here and there, and government keeps paying endlessly. We have now designed a new strategy for payment, and those benefiting from the old system will resist it. But I am ready for the fight.”

He explained that vested interests ranging from generator suppliers to political actors who profit from inflated overhead costs will push back, but he is determined to confront them head-on.

“If you’re not ready for this job, go home and sleep. I’m fully prepared to support President Bola Tinubu and ensure Nigeria gets to where it ought to be,” he added.
