Wike stressed the importance of following formal procedures for such requests instead of relying on social media. “No formal request has been submitted to my office regarding the use of Eagle Square for the planned protest,” he said.
He urged the organizers to use official channels to submit their requests to ensure proper processing. Wike reiterated his opposition to the protest, declaring that the FCT would not be available for such activities. “The FCT will not be available for protests on the 1st. I advise residents to refrain from participating in actions that may cause disruption,” he warned.
The town hall meeting, aimed at enhancing communication between the FCT administration and residents, was attended by several prominent figures, including FCT Minister of State Mariya Mahmoud, area council chairmen, traditional rulers, and representatives from religious, political, women’s, and youth groups.
Discussions at the meeting focused on addressing grievances with the current administration and finding potential solutions. Wike emphasized that protesters should use appropriate channels rather than social media to communicate their requests.
The #EndBadGovernance protest, which has gained substantial attention on social media, reflects growing frustration among Nigerians over economic conditions and governance issues.
