Former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential aspirant, Dele Momodu, has disclosed that his fallout with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, began when he declared his intention to run for president.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Speaking on a recent episode of The Honest Bunch podcast, Momodu revealed that he and Wike were once close friends until their relationship soured. He claimed he was unaware that Wike was secretly nursing his own presidential ambition and that the former Rivers State governor became upset when informed of Momodu’s plans, subsequently refusing to take his calls.
The veteran journalist expressed shock over Wike’s dismissive remarks about him on live television, adding that the minister now disrespects him simply because of his wealth and political influence.
“I was very close to Wike, but things changed the moment I declared my interest in the presidency. He hadn’t told anyone about his own ambitions, but I suspected it due to the branding efforts and the large sums he was spending on media PR,” Momodu said.
He recounted how he had consulted widely across the country, including with traditional rulers, and had gathered that Wike would face significant resistance, especially from the North.
“I tried to tell him what I had gathered and suggested that if he couldn’t run, he could consider supporting me. But instead of a conversation, he cut me off. He even dismissed me on live television when asked about new entrants into the race, saying, ‘Which Dele Momodu? Get serious!’ I was shocked,” he added.
Momodu lamented that Wike, who once admired his lifestyle and aspirations, now looks down on him due to his newfound power and financial status.
