Without Fayose, No Makinde Governorship’ — Isaac Sparks Controversy

Isaac made the claim in a post shared on his Facebook page amid the escalating political disagreement between Fayose and Makinde.

According to him, he was directly involved in some of the political engagements and discussions that preceded Makinde’s victory at the polls.

He asserted that Ayodele Fayose was instrumental in mobilising support for Makinde’s governorship ambition and claimed to have witnessed many of the events that contributed to his eventual emergence.

Isaac further recalled meetings allegedly held in Ibadan during the build-up to the election, claiming that key political figures participated in discussions aimed at advancing Makinde’s gubernatorial bid.

He referenced one such gathering at his resort in Ring Road, Ibadan, where he said plans were discussed regarding Makinde’s path to the Oyo State Government House.

The businessman also mentioned the involvement of Victor Enahoro, son of the late nationalist and statesman, Chief Anthony Enahoro, alleging that he was among those present during some of the political consultations.

Taking sides in the ongoing dispute between the two politicians, Isaac declared his support for his brother, insisting that Fayose’s grievances stem from what he described as a lack of appreciation and recognition after contributing to Makinde’s political rise.

He urged the Oyo governor to reconcile with the former Ekiti governor, arguing that Fayose felt sidelined despite the support he allegedly provided.

Isaac’s comments come shortly after Fayose publicly criticised Governor Makinde and vowed to challenge his political influence within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Speaking during a recent television interview, Fayose accused Makinde of dismantling his political structure within the party and undermining the PDP’s strength in the South-West region.

The former governor maintained that he should not be taken for granted politically, warning that he would respond to what he described as acts of disloyalty and betrayal.

Fayose also linked the deterioration of their relationship to Makinde’s presidential ambitions, suggesting that the governor’s political decisions had strained trust among key stakeholders within the party.

While acknowledging Makinde’s constitutional right to pursue higher political office, Fayose argued that political relationships should be built on loyalty, fairness and mutual respect.

He further hinted that future elections could provide an opportunity to test the strength of competing political structures within the PDP as the rivalry between both camps continues to unfold.
