Woman Caught Concealing AK-47 In Bag Of Garri

Force spokesperson Muyiwa Adejobi revealed this during a press briefing at the STS Headquarters in Abuja. Adejobi explained that Yusuf admitted she was sent by a notorious bandit, Aminu Basullube, who is known for his activities in Katsina State. Yusuf was instructed to collect the weapons at Danum Madam Camp in Katsina State.

On August 14, 2024, STS operatives, acting on intelligence, intercepted Yusuf while she was traveling from Lafia, Nasarawa State, to Katsina State in a Sienna Bus. A search of the vehicle revealed the concealed AK-47 rifle and four magazines hidden in the sack of garri.

During questioning, Yusuf claimed she was unaware of the weapon in the sack. She explained, “I was told to transport millet, but when I found that it was garri instead, I was apprehensive. I was paid ₦130,000 to deliver the garri to Katsina, and my transport fare was ₦15,000. I made a mistake by not inquiring further.”

In related news, Adejobi reported that a team from the FID-STS had traveled to Igbowo in Oyo State to investigate Musa Saidu, who had been missing from his community for five years. Saidu, upon his return to Kigakwu in Kaduna State, was found spending excessively on new motorcycles and livestock, totaling ₦5,000,000. He confessed to being involved in criminal activities under the leadership of Haruna in the Birnin Gwari forest, using AK-47 rifles. Saidu explained that he turned to cattle rustling as a result of his own losses but claimed he had stopped and returned home to enjoy his ill-gotten gains.
