Woman Fatally Struck By Hit-And-Run Driver In Anambra State

Mr. Adeoye Irelewuyi, the FRSC Commander in Anambra, disclosed to the press on Saturday in Awka that the driver responsible for the accident fled the scene.

The Commander cited speeding as the probable cause of the accident, which involved an unidentified driver of a Toyota Hiace commercial bus without a registration number, heading towards Upper Iweke, Onitsha.

Eyewitnesses reported that the driver, traveling at a high speed, collided with a female pedestrian and swiftly departed from the scene.

Upon arrival, the FRSC rescue team transported the victim to Toronto Mortuary following confirmation of her demise by a medical professional.

Expressing condolences to the deceased’s family, Irelewuyi emphasized the importance of adhering to speed limits, especially during adverse weather conditions like the rainy season, and urged motorists to exercise caution on the roads
