The judge speculated that the murder might have been motivated by anger over the depletion of funds. Mr. Justice Pepperall criticized Webster for lying about how he obtained Mr. Wilcox’s watches, stating, “The appalling truth is you stole one of the watches from a dying man’s wrist.”

“This was a sustained and vicious attack in which you showed Mr. Wilcox no mercy,” Mr. Justice Pepperall said, noting the victim’s severe defensive injuries.

During her initial police interview, Harris denied involvement in the murder and questioned why she was being arrested. She blamed her co-defendants, Webster and Whiteley, for Mr. Wilcox’s death.

Harris expressed confusion over her arrest, insisting she had done nothing wrong and blaming her co-defendants. At one point, she was heard whispering, “They’ve killed him, haven’t they?”

Harris chose not to testify in court.

Prosecutor KC Andrew Ford informed the jury of Harris’s prior convictions for assault, including unlawful wounding in 2022 involving a knife attack on a partner. CCTV footage of her assaults in Wrexham and Colwyn Bay was presented, along with evidence of her multiple theft convictions.

While Harris and Webster were convicted of Mr. Wilcox’s murder, Whiteley was acquitted. The judge told Whiteley, “You leave court without any blot on your character.”

Mr. Wilcox, described in a family tribute as a “really generous person,” had no previous convictions. The statement highlighted his kindness and dedication to his family, including frequent trips to Cornwall to care for his elderly mother.

Harris, with no fixed address, was sentenced to life in prison with a minimum of 25 years. Webster, from Lacey Street, Widnes, Cheshire, was also sentenced to life but with a minimum term of 23 years.
