One employee, Opemipo, noted that the state workforce had been eagerly awaiting the announcement of the new minimum wage and suggested that the delay may be a deliberate tactic by the government. “I wonder what is causing the hold-up. Other neighboring states have already implemented their new wages, so why the delay in Osun?” she said. “This economic hardship is becoming unbearable, and I urge Gov. Adeleke to act quickly.”

Another civil servant, who preferred to remain anonymous, expressed disappointment that Osun was not among the first states to implement the new wage. He lamented that current salaries are insufficient to support families given the rising cost of living. “We are concerned about this delay. Even a small increase would help with basic needs. But without clarity from the government, our anxiety grows,” he stated, pointing out that states like Ekiti, Ondo, Lagos, and Ogun have already taken action.

A senior civil servant criticized the government for not providing a clear plan for the new minimum wage implementation, stating, “It seems insensitive for the government not to acknowledge what we are going through during these tough times. I hope this delay isn’t a tactic to offer a lower minimum wage than expected.”

Meanwhile, Kolapo Alimi, the State Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, assured that the committee formed by the governor to review the minimum wage implementation would soon finalize its recommendations for approval.
