Yobe Assembly Initiates Legislative Changes To Hisba Bill

Yobe State House of Assembly has swiftly addressed a bill aimed at amending the Hisbah Commission law. Presented by the executive branch, the bill smoothly passed its second reading on Tuesday following thorough discussions among assembly members.

During the debate, Hon. Nasiru Hassan Yusuf, the Majority Leader, highlighted the necessity of amending certain sections of the Hisbah bill, which had received gubernatorial assent before being referred back to the House.

Yusuf emphasized the proposed separation of roles between the executive chairman and the state Commandant of the Hisbah Commission once the bill undergoes necessary amendments, urging fellow members to rally behind the initiative.

Chairing the session, Speaker Rt Hon. Chiroma Buba Mashio directed the bill to the House standing committee on Justice and Religious Affairs for further legislative scrutiny and action.
