Speaking in an interview on ARISE News on Wednesday, Omokri dismissed the African Democratic Congress (ADC)-led coalition as a gathering of disgruntled politicians and political failures, claiming they lack the structure, credibility, and influence needed to mount a serious challenge to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 elections.

Omokri mocked comparisons between the current coalition and the historic 2013 merger that formed the APC, asking how El-Rufai hopes to persuade Nigerians when even his own son declined to back him.

“These are just malcontents and political rejects coming together to form what I call a losers’ convention,” Omokri said.

He continued, “The ADC is nowhere near what the APC was before 2015. The APC had governors, a Speaker in the House of Representatives, and national presence. This coalition has none of that. How many of them control a state? Not one. Even El-Rufai’s son publicly endorsed President Bola Tinubu’s re-election. If he can’t win over his own son, how can he win over a country?”

Addressing Peter Obi’s role, Omokri questioned his direction and influence, noting, “Peter Obi is facing leadership issues in the Labour Party. He isn’t even certain if he can repeat his 2023 momentum, and he insists he remains a member of the LP.”

Omokri also scoffed at claims that a unified coalition could have beaten Tinubu in 2023, arguing, “What exists now isn’t a coalition—it’s a clash of egos. And from what I can tell, the eventual candidate is likely to emerge from the North.”
