You Can’t Speak For The Southeast’ — Otti Fires Back At Uzodinma Over Tinubu’s 2027 Bid

Speaking at a press conference in Umuahia, Otti said Uzodinma was not in a position to speak on behalf of other governors in the region or determine their political choices.

According to the Abia governor, while Uzodinma is entitled to endorse President Tinubu for a second term, he cannot claim to represent the views of other Southeast governors or the people of the region.

Otti’s remarks followed Uzodinma’s recent assertion that the five Southeast governors had resolved to back Tinubu’s 2027 presidential bid.

Uzodinma made the claim during a meeting with the Imo State Elders Council and traditional rulers in Owerri, where he said the decision was driven by what he described as the President’s exceptional commitment to the Southeast through major infrastructure projects and economic initiatives.

He argued that the Tinubu administration had delivered visible dividends of democracy across the region, citing ongoing federal interventions as evidence of the government’s commitment.

Responding, Otti rejected the suggestion that there was a collective agreement among Southeast governors, insisting that political endorsements for the 2027 election were premature.

He added that every governor would make his political decision at the appropriate time, stressing that no individual had the authority to commit the entire region to a particular candidate.
