You Dare Not Oppose Akpabio And Walk Free” – Rights Lawyer Effiong Explodes
Human rights lawyer, Inibehe Effiong, has accused Senate President Godswill Akpabio of being vindictive and willing to trample on people’s rights to protect his interests.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Speaking on Politics Today on Channels Television, Effiong linked the Senate’s refusal to reinstate Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan to Akpabio’s alleged intolerance of opposition. Natasha, who represents Kogi Central, was suspended on March 6, 2025, after refusing to change her designated seat during plenary. Despite her appeal, the Senate insisted she would remain suspended until the Court of Appeal rules on her case.
Effiong, however, argued that the punishment was excessive and politically driven, stressing that it left Natasha’s constituents without representation. He said:
“Akpabio doesn’t forgive; he is vindictive. This is a man who will go to any length to trample on people’s rights. You don’t oppose Akpabio and get away with it—that’s exactly what is happening to Natasha. Why suspend a senator for six months over a seat dispute? For half a year, the people of Kogi Central have been silenced in the Senate, denied bills, motions, and representation. That is unjust.”
