Fubara’s heartfelt plea comes after a series of violent incidents, including the burning of three major Local Government Secretariats in Rivers State, allegedly orchestrated by thugs loyal to Wike. The governor expressed his deep frustration at the ongoing conflict, which he believes is threatening the peace and security of the state. In the widely circulated video, Fubara emphasized his desire to resolve the issue for the benefit of the people of Rivers, urging Wike to let go of the feud for the sake of the state’s future.
When asked by Seun Okin what he would say to Wike if they met face-to-face, Fubara responded with a powerful message: “I will tell him that it has gotten to a point where he needs to let go. We need peace in this state, and you don’t necessarily need to win all the fights. Let him let go for the good of Rivers people and for the love he has always professed for the state. We need to secure this state; we don’t need to burn it down.” His appeal underscores the gravity of the situation, with the governor urging for reconciliation and peace in a state that has witnessed rising tensions since their fallout.
