The Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, Lere Olayinka, has ridiculed the National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Ajibola Basiru, over his involvement in Rivers State politics.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Wike and Basiru have recently exchanged words following Wike’s warning to the APC scribe to stay out of Rivers State’s political affairs.

In a post shared on his Facebook page, Olayinka mocked Basiru for attempting to intervene in Rivers politics despite failing to secure the APC governorship ticket in Osun State.

According to Olayinka, Wike’s political influence would deliver more votes for President Bola Tinubu in Osun State than Basiru could.

“Here is someone who sought the APC governorship ticket but couldn’t get it, yet wants to interfere in another state’s political struggle,” Olayinka wrote.

He argued that Wike’s influence remains stronger than Basiru’s, even outside Rivers State, insisting that the FCT minister would contribute more votes for Tinubu in Osun than the APC national secretary.

Olayinka added that Wike’s message to Basiru was straightforward: focus on his own political environment and avoid meddling in Rivers State politics.

He stressed that politics is local and grassroots-driven, pointing out that Basiru lost his re-election bid in 2023 despite being a sitting senator and Senate spokesperson at the time.

“You couldn’t win your own election as a serving senator and Senate spokesperson, yet you want to come to Rivers to help someone else,” he said.

Olayinka concluded by advising Basiru to channel his energy into uniting political forces in Osun State in support of President Tinubu, similar to what Wike has done in Rivers State, before attempting to intervene elsewhere.
