Your Path Is Honourable – Sowore Reveals Adeboye’s Message After Lagos Meeting
African Action Congress presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has revealed that Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, prayed for him during a private meeting following his attendance at the church’s National Thanksgiving Service in Lagos.
Sowore disclosed that the encounter took place on Sunday after he was introduced to the congregation at the RCCG headquarters in Ebute-Metta.
According to the presidential candidate, Adeboye told him that he had been closely following his activities and expressed the belief that his political journey was honourable.
Sowore said the cleric also offered prayers for him and expressed confidence in his eventual success.
The AAC candidate explained that he had a private conversation with Adeboye after the service, describing the encounter as significant because of their longstanding history.
Sowore revealed that Sunday’s meeting was not his first encounter with the RCCG leader, recalling that they initially met in 1996, shortly after he completed his National Youth Service Corps programme.
He noted that the two men met again at the same location about three decades later.
The development came after Sowore attended the church’s thanksgiving service, where he was introduced to worshippers alongside other personalities.
Following the visit, the politician also reacted to criticism from some supporters of Labour Party’s Peter Obi over his presence at the church service.
Sowore argued that the reception he received from members of the congregation was notably different from the response given when Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his deputy, Obafemi Hamzat, were introduced.
He, however, maintained that his decision to attend the service was not motivated by an attempt to campaign or promote a political agenda.
The visit and his subsequent revelation about his meeting with Adeboye have since generated reactions online, with some Nigerians questioning the political implications of the encounter while others viewed it as a significant moment in Sowore’s political journey.
