During a meeting held at the Kano Government House on Sunday with 484 councillors from all 44 local government areas of the state, Governor Yusuf assured Kwankwaso that both he and his political base would stand firmly behind him in every political undertaking.

According to a statement by the governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, Yusuf urged the councillors to serve as effective links between the government and grassroots communities. “You are the eyes and ears of this administration at the local level. Return to your communities, listen to their concerns, and report back the most pressing needs,” he said.

He revealed that the Kano State government has set aside nearly ₦5 billion for ward-level development projects to address critical infrastructure issues such as classroom construction, drainage systems, and other community needs.

Yusuf stressed that transparency, honesty, and dedication are essential to ensuring that the funds are used effectively for projects that directly benefit the people.

The governor’s renewed pledge of loyalty comes amid a wave of political realignments, particularly with defections from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). Following the recent defection of former PDP vice presidential candidate Ifeanyi Okowa to the APC, there is growing speculation that more opposition figures may follow suit.
