Zamfara Announces Schedule For Local Government ElectionsThe Zamfara State Independent Electoral Commission (ZASIEC) has announced that local government elections in the state will take place on November 16, 2024. Gusau, who was sworn in earlier that day by the state Chief Judge, Justice Kulu Aliyu, outlined the timeline for the election. The sale and submission of expression of interest forms will be conducted from October 25 to November 1, 2024. He assured the public that the Commission is operating in accordance with Law Number Four of ZASIEC and pledged to keep citizens updated on any developments related to the elections.

In a separate incident, reports surfaced that a section of the official residence of the Zamfara State House of Assembly Speaker in Gusau was damaged by fire over the weekend. Fortunately, no casualties were reported. The fire caused significant property loss, amounting to millions of Naira.

The House Clerk, Alhaji Mahmud Aliyu, expressed shock at the event, describing it as a devastating disaster and extending condolences to the Speaker, Hon. Bilyaminu Ismail Moriki, and his family. Many political leaders and supporters have since reached out to offer their sympathies. The Speaker has expressed gratitude for the absence of fatalities and thanked those who helped extinguish the blaze.
