The governor’s message was conveyed by his Chief of Staff, Hon. Mukhtar Lugga, during the inauguration of the state’s 27th Qur’anic recitation competition.

Governor Lawal’s appeal follows the recent abduction of over 100 villagers by bandits in Mutunji and three other communities in Maru Local Government Area of the state on Friday.

Acknowledging the security challenges in rural areas, Lawal assured that the state government had taken measures by recruiting 4,200 Community Protection Guards (CPGs) to tackle such nefarious acts.

In a disturbing incident last Friday, a bandit leader known as Damina orchestrated an attack on four villages in the Dansadau district, resulting in the abduction of over 100 residents.

Local reports suggest that the bandits targeted the villages due to the residents’ inability to pay harvesting levies.
