Zulum Under Fire! APC Forum Alleges Plot Against Ganduje, Demands Apology

The North-Central All Progressives Congress (APC) Forum has called on Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, to immediately tender an apology for allegedly mobilising thugs against the party’s National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, during the North-East stakeholders’ meeting held in Gombe on Sunday.

According to reports, Governor Zulum allegedly led a protest aimed at disrupting the meeting after Ganduje and the APC National Vice Chairman (North-East), Comrade Mustapha Salihu, endorsed President Bola Tinubu for a second term without acknowledging Vice President Kashim Shettima.

Due to the chaos that ensued, Ganduje and Salihu were escorted out of the venue under tight security.

In a statement released Monday by its Chairman, Saleh Zazzaga, the North-Central APC Forum strongly criticised Zulum’s actions, accusing him of orchestrating the attack against the national chairman.

The Forum defended Ganduje, insisting that the nomination of a vice president is solely the constitutional prerogative of the President.

“It is solely the President’s right to choose his running mate. No one can force President Tinubu to pick a particular person as Vice President,” the statement read.

“We condemn Governor Babagana Zulum’s alleged mobilisation of thugs to attack the National Chairman, Alhaji Abdullahi Ganduje, who was merely performing his official duties. Ganduje remains innocent in this matter.”

The Forum further stressed that the role of the party chairman is not to select or endorse a vice presidential candidate, emphasizing that Ganduje maintained neutrality during the meeting.

“We, the North-Central APC Forum, demand an immediate apology from Governor Zulum for his unacceptable conduct. As committed stakeholders of the party, we are deeply disappointed by the governor’s actions,” the statement concluded.
