In a recent interview with Arise News, Adeyanju highlighted that Bello, the former governor of Kogi State, no longer holds immunity and should be subject to arrest and prosecution for alleged fund misappropriation during his tenure.
Adeyanju criticized the discrepancy in how the law is applied, pointing out that while individuals exercising their rights are detained, Bello continues to evade justice despite an EFCC arrest warrant.
“Some say Yahaya Bello is above the law, but that’s not true. The president is protecting him. Despite allegations of stealing ₦80 billion, and the EFCC’s attempts to arrest him with a valid warrant, he remains free,” Adeyanju said.
He compared Bello’s situation to that of protesters, who are often arrested and detained. “Protesters are arrested and held for weeks, while Bello, who no longer has immunity, walks freely. This double standard is glaring,” Adeyanju added.
