Edo’s Health Crisis: APC Urges Voters to Reject Obaseki’s Successor IghodaloThe APC New Media Directorate, under the leadership of Osigwe Omo-Ikirodah, has issued a pointed warning to Edo voters, highlighting what they describe as Governor Godwin Obaseki’s catastrophic handling of the state’s health sector. In a recent statement, the Directorate exposed the shortcomings of Obaseki’s health policies and called on the people of Edo to reject his chosen successor, Asue Ighodalo, in the forthcoming elections.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The Directorate criticized Governor Obaseki for his failure to deliver on health sector promises, particularly his refusal to raise the salaries of health workers, who continue to be underpaid despite their vital role in the state. They singled out the Central Hospital in Benin City as a prime example of Obaseki’s mismanagement. Once a state-of-the-art facility, the hospital—originally built and commissioned by the previous administration under President Muhammadu Buhari—has been turned into an elite institution inaccessible to the average citizen. After being shut down for years, the hospital reopened with a system that effectively segregates patients based on their financial status.

Further, the APC New Media Directorate pointed to the absence of the community hospitals that Obaseki promised during his campaigns. They described his health sector initiatives as nothing more than a “grand scam,” accusing the governor of misleading the public while siphoning off the state’s resources.

Asue Ighodalo, Obaseki’s economic adviser and handpicked successor, was also heavily criticized in the statement. The Directorate labeled him the driving force behind the governor’s failed health policies and warned that electing Ighodalo would mean a continuation of the disastrous path that has plagued Edo’s healthcare system.

The APC New Media Directorate concluded by urging Edo voters to reject both Obaseki and Ighodalo, emphasizing that the state cannot endure another administration that prioritizes personal gain over public health and welfare.

With the gubernatorial election fast approaching, the health sector has become a central issue in the campaign, and the APC’s statement is expected to resonate strongly with voters concerned about the state’s future.
