₦9.8 Billion Vanished! Gov Otti Exposes Massive Road Project Scam Under Ikpeazu’s Watch
Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has leveled serious allegations against his predecessor, Okezie Ikpeazu, accusing his administration of disbursing ₦9.8 billion to a contractor for the reconstruction of Port Harcourt Road in Aba — a project he claimed was never executed.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Governor Otti made the revelation during a thanksgiving event and carnival held at Umuagbai Secondary School, Aba. The event was organized by the Aba community to celebrate the completion of the Port Harcourt Road project and other infrastructural achievements under the current administration.
In a scathing remark directed at critics and former officials, Otti dismissed them as mere “noise makers.”
“In 2017, they awarded the Port Harcourt Road contract for ₦9.8 billion and paid the full amount, yet the road remained untouched,” Otti stated.
He addressed the backlash surrounding the current administration’s ₦36.5 billion investment in the same road project, explaining that inflation and foreign exchange rates justified the increased cost.
“The average exchange rate in 2017 was ₦333 to the dollar, which means ₦9.8 billion then equaled about $29 million. Let those making noise do the math,” he added.
Governor Otti also revealed that 20 electric buses procured by the state government would be launched within the next two months as part of efforts to modernize transportation.
In a heartwarming gesture, the governor honoured a tricycle (keke) operator who returned ₦2.4 million left behind by a passenger, praising his integrity and presenting him with a reward.
