17 Points Each! Rivers United And Rangers Prepare For Crucial Title Race Battle

Rivers United and Rangers International are set to face off in a crucial Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) encounter at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt on Sunday.

The highly anticipated Matchday 11 fixture is expected to have significant implications for the league title race, as both teams are currently level on 17 points, with their positions separated only by goal difference.

According to Bush Radio Academy, Rivers United will be looking to bounce back after suffering their first defeat of the season, losing 2-1 to Bendel Insurance at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City.

The Pride of Rivers will be eager to use home advantage to return to winning ways against a Rangers side determined to shift its attention back to domestic competition following its elimination from the CAF Champions League.

The Flying Antelopes were recently knocked out of the continental competition by Algerian outfit MC Alger and will now concentrate on defending their NPFL title.

Rivers United head into Sunday’s encounter with an impressive historical record against Rangers on home soil. The Port Harcourt-based club has won all 10 previous meetings with the Enugu side at home since changing its name from Dolphins FC.

Rangers’ last recorded victory in Port Harcourt came in 2003, when the Enugu-based team secured a 1-0 win over the Pride of Rivers.

With both sides seeking maximum points to strengthen their positions in the title race, Sunday’s encounter promises to be a fiercely contested battle between two of the league’s leading teams.
