2026 Osun Poll: Political Firepower As Akpabio, Uzodimma, APC Governors Rally Supporters In Osogbo

Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, Hope Uzodimma, have arrived in Osogbo, Osun State, for the All Progressives Congress (APC) mega rally ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.

Also present in Osogbo for the rally are the governors of Edo, Kogi and Ondo states — Monday Okpebholo, Usman Ododo and Lucky Aiyedatiwa, respectively.

A member of the House of Representatives representing Ikeja Federal Constituency, James Faleke, is also among the prominent APC figures who arrived for the event.

The rally is part of the ruling party’s final mobilisation drive for its governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, ahead of the August 15 election.

The presence of top APC leaders is expected to add momentum to the party’s campaign as it intensifies its grassroots mobilisation across Osun State.

APC supporters, campaign coordinators and party leaders from the state’s 30 local government areas are expected to attend the mega rally.

The event comes as political campaigns enter their final phase ahead of the governorship poll, with the APC seeking to consolidate its support for Oyebamiji and convert months of campaign activities into votes on election day.

It was gathered that some of the visiting governors and other senior party officials had already begun engagements with APC members and supporters across the state.

The meetings reportedly included outreach to indigenes of their respective states who are resident in Osun, as part of efforts to expand the party’s support base and strengthen backing for its candidate.

The engagements are expected to complement the APC’s existing grassroots structures and mobilisation efforts across the state.

Oyebamiji, a former Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), emerged as the APC’s governorship candidate after winning the party’s primary election held in Osogbo.
