2026 World Cup Qualifiers: Full List Of Countries Knocked Out Of The Race

In Africa alone, 18 countries saw their hopes of reaching football’s biggest stage crushed after finishing with the lowest points in their respective groups. Among them are Congo, Chad, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Eswatini, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Lesotho, Mauritania, Mauritius, São Tomé and Príncipe, Seychelles, Somalia, South Sudan, The Gambia, Togo, Burundi, and the Central African Republic.
Globally, several other teams from Asia, Oceania, Europe, and the Americas also failed to advance. Some of those eliminated include Tajikistan, Vietnam, Yemen, Afghanistan, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Tonga, Vanuatu, Puerto Rico, St. Lucia, Barbados, Cuba, Guyana, Gibraltar, Liechtenstein, Peru, and Chile.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be jointly hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada in an expanded 48-team format, making it the largest edition in history.
