2027 Bombshell: Turaki-Led PDP Faction Holds Secretive Meeting With Jonathan Ahead Of Presidential Race
A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) led by Taminu Turaki on Friday held a meeting with former President Goodluck Jonathan as political consultations ahead of the 2027 general elections continue.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The meeting comes just days after the Turaki-led faction announced Jonathan as its presidential candidate for the 2027 election, despite the former president’s continued silence on whether he intends to join the race.
Jonathan was nominated in absentia, having not attended the event where the faction formally ratified his candidacy. Since then, he has not publicly accepted or rejected the nomination.
Although the former president has yet to declare his intention to contest the 2027 presidential election, he previously stated that he would consult widely before making a final decision.
On May 7, Jonathan reiterated that he would engage with key stakeholders before deciding whether to return to the presidential contest. His remarks came in response to a demonstration by a group of supporters who gathered at his Abuja office to urge him to seek the presidency once again.
Addressing the supporters, Jonathan assured them that he would carefully consider their appeal and hold consultations before making any announcement.
Despite those assurances, the former president has remained silent on the matter and has not officially declared his interest in the 2027 race.
The latest meeting between Jonathan and the Turaki-led PDP faction is widely seen as part of ongoing political consultations ahead of the next general elections.
As of the time of filing this report, neither Jonathan nor the PDP faction had disclosed details of the discussions held during the meeting.
