2027: PDP Chieftain Throws Weight Behind Peter Obi’s Presidential Bid

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Anselm Ijebor, has declared his support for former Anambra State Governor and Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

Ijebor said he was prepared to mobilise support for Obi, describing him as a leader with a proven track record in public service and governance.

He urged Nigerians to back candidates they believe possess the experience, vision and competence to address the country’s challenges and deliver effective leadership.

While endorsing Obi, the PDP stalwart also spoke positively about former Kano State Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, saying both politicians had demonstrated commitment to public service and continued to enjoy widespread public support.

According to him, the 2027 general election presents another opportunity for Nigerians to elect leaders capable of repositioning the country.

“As the 2027 general election approaches, Nigerians have an opportunity to elect leaders with the experience, vision and capacity to deliver good governance and rebuild the country,” he said.

Ijebor praised Obi’s tenure as governor of Anambra State, describing it as one marked by integrity, competence and a commitment to development.

He expressed confidence that an Obi-led administration would prioritise critical sectors such as infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture, security and job creation, while also promoting youth and women empowerment.

He added that Obi’s contributions to national development and his message of unity had earned him support across different parts of the country.

Ijebor also called on eligible Nigerians to participate actively in the 2027 electoral process and vote for candidates they believe can move the nation forward.

“I call on every eligible voter, every youth, every woman, every elder and every stakeholder to participate in the democratic process and support the candidate they believe can move Nigeria forward,” he said.

He further urged political parties and their supporters to shun violence, hate speech and other actions capable of undermining the electoral process, stressing the need for peaceful, issue-based campaigns ahead of the 2027 general elections.
