In a phone interview with The Sun on Wednesday, the PDP elder statesman cautioned against shifting the party’s 2027 presidential ticket to the North, insisting such a move would violate the PDP’s zoning arrangement.

Reacting to the coalition’s unveiling, George compared the party’s internal turmoil to a leaking roof, arguing that true party loyalists should stay and fix the system instead of abandoning it.

“If your house has a leaking roof and you’re the landlord, do you flee? No—you stay and repair it,” he said. “Some leaders are jumping ship instead of fixing our internal issues. That’s not how a party is rebuilt.”

He accused certain high-ranking PDP members of attempting to subvert the party’s zoning policy, warning that any effort to hand the 2027 ticket to the North would be strongly opposed.

“No sir, no sir, no sir. The North has had its turn. That’s the principle established by the PDP, and it must not be altered.”

George reaffirmed his commitment to a power shift back to the North—but only in 2031.

“In 2031, the presidency can return to the North. I will personally lead that campaign. I’ve done it before,” he declared.

He also emphasized the need for the PDP to distinguish itself from the ruling APC, insisting the party must present a clean, competent, and trustworthy candidate in the next election cycle.

“We are not Tinubu’s party. PDP must offer someone responsible, dependable, and with unquestionable character.”

In closing, George referenced a biblical story to underscore his resolve:

“We will rebuild the broken walls—just like Nehemiah did in the Bible.”
