Nwosu, who recently stepped down as the party’s National Chairman to pave the way for fresh leadership, said the coalition unanimously endorsed David Mark to guide the political movement toward Aso Rock.
“We all stepped aside so that David Mark can captain this ship to the Villa,” Nwosu declared to thunderous applause from a hall filled with political leaders and supporters.
The coalition also introduced former Osun State Governor and ex-minister, Rauf Aregbesola—once an ally of President Tinubu—as the interim National Secretary.
Nwosu criticized the current administration, blaming the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for Nigeria’s worsening economic conditions and national distress.
“Nigeria is in critical condition—like a patient in the ICU. Lives are being lost daily. I urge the incoming leaders to rescue the nation and return it to global prominence,” he said.
He emphasized unity and discipline within the coalition, warning detractors that any criticism of the day’s transition was not from genuine ADC members. “We must stand firm and unapologetic. This is a battle, and more challenges will come—but we are ready,” he said.
Nwosu, who has led the ADC since inception, assured his continued commitment, saying, “My mission won’t be complete until we sing the national anthem inside the Villa. That will be true victory.”
He praised Aregbesola’s dedication to public service and expressed confidence in his ability to execute the coalition’s goals, adding, “Nigerians are desperate for change. This coalition is the answer. I congratulate you both and assure you of full support from the NWC and NEC.”
The event drew major political figures, underlining the seriousness of the opposition alliance. Attendees included former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate Peter Obi, ex-Governor Nasir El-Rufai, former Transportation Minister Rotimi Amaechi, and former Imo Governor Emeka Ihedioha.
Others present included Senator Ireti Kingibe, former Senate President David Mark himself, and media personality Dele Momodu, among others.
