“20GB Gone Within Hours! — MTN Customer Cries Out After Data Suddenly Disappears

An MTN Nigeria customer has raised concerns after alleging that a newly purchased 20GB data bundle was exhausted within hours despite his claim that he barely used the internet.

The customer, identified as KAA, said he had gone to bed with more than 10GB remaining on his MTN line, only to wake up the following morning and discover that the data had allegedly been completely depleted.

According to Bush Radio Academy, KAA subsequently purchased another 20GB bundle and said he only opened Facebook to publish a post before preparing for work.

He explained that after arriving at his office at about 9am, his phone automatically connected to the office’s Starlink Wi-Fi, meaning he believed his mobile data would not have been significantly used.

The customer said he became suspicious later in the day after leaving the office to get food. At the restaurant, he reportedly discovered that his banking applications and WhatsApp were unable to connect to the internet.

Initially believing the problem was related to network connectivity, KAA said he restarted his phone several times before eventually asking someone else to assist with his payment.

He later left the restaurant and noticed that his iTunes was also unable to stream content. This prompted him to check his MTN data balance, where he claimed he was shocked to discover that the newly purchased bundle had allegedly been exhausted.

“Lo and behold, the message I got was that I do not have active data bundle,” KAA said.

Expressing his frustration, the customer accused MTN of what he described as the unexplained exhaustion of his data and said his anger extended beyond the incident to concerns about the country’s judicial system.

He said he had been considering legal action involving telecommunications companies and vowed to pursue the matter regardless of how long the process might take.

“But whether it takes 10 years or 20, I will follow it to the very end,” he stated.

In a response to KAA’s complaint, MTN customer support reportedly asked him to provide the affected number so the matter could be investigated, while noting that data usage can be influenced by traffic generated through device applications and online activities.

KAA, however, continued to demand details of the specific activities allegedly responsible for the depletion, maintaining that he had barely used the newly purchased bundle.

The incident has since generated discussion online, with the customer’s account renewing concerns among some users about unexplained data depletion on telecommunications networks.
