President Tinubu is set to travel to Kenya on Saturday to attend the Fifth Mid-Year Coordination Meeting (5thMYCM) of the African Union (AU) and various regional bodies, as announced in a press statement by presidential spokesman Dele Alake.

The primary focus of the meeting is to discuss and advance the implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) as outlined in the AU’s 2023 theme. President Tinubu, in his capacity as ECOWAS Chairperson, will present a comprehensive report on the progress of regional integration within ECOWAS.


This report will highlight the efforts made by ECOWAS institutions, member states, the private sector, and other stakeholders to deepen integration through trade, the free movement of people, investment promotion, infrastructure development, and the maintenance of peace, security, and stability.

The 5th MYCM will bring together representatives from the African Union Commission, the Regional Mechanisms (RMs), and other relevant entities.
