27-Year-Old Man Remanded In Lagos Court Over Alleged Sexual Assault On Neighbor’s 8-Year-Old Girl

The accused, Olabisi, had pleaded guilty to the specific charge of sexual assault through penetration. Prior to his plea, the state counsel, Ms Abimbola Abolade, informed the court that the incident occurred on January 18, 2023, in Ojuelegba, Surulere, Lagos.

Abolade detailed that Olabisi had sexually assaulted the eight-year-old girl by penetrating her vagina with his finger, a violation of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State (2015).

Justice Abiola Soladoye, presiding over the case, ordered Olabisi to be remanded in a correctional facility until the hearing of his bail application. The trial is set to commence on February 20, as Justice Soladoye adjourned the proceedings.

It is important to note that the stipulated punishment for sexual assault by penetration in Lagos State is life imprisonment.
