2Baba Untouchable! Management Insists Afrobeats Throne Secure Despite Controversies

The management team of Nigerian music icon, Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, has refuted claims that controversies surrounding his marriage and relationships on social media are denting his legacy.

2Baba has remained a trending subject online following his separation from wife Annie Idibia and subsequent marriage to Edo State lawmaker, Natasha Osawuru.

However, Chioma Ebubedike-Igbokwe, Head of Legal and Communication at A Guy Entertainment, stressed that such distractions cannot diminish the singer’s influence and impact on African music. She maintained that Afrobeats’ current global success stands firmly on the foundation laid by pioneers like 2Baba.

According to her, the management’s focus is not on competing with the new wave of artistes but on building platforms that highlight 2Baba’s enduring voice and relevance.

She explained:

“Controversy spreads faster than music in today’s digital world, but 2Baba’s legacy is untouchable. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest of all time in African music. Billboard’s recognition of African Queen as the number one Afrobeats song of all time only proves this. His catalogue and cultural impact outweigh temporary noise — every song is timeless, and this fact remains unchanged.

“Instead of competing with younger acts, our strategy is to amplify his unmatched depth, storytelling, and stagecraft. His place in Afrobeats is secure — just like legends such as Fela and Christy Essien-Igbokwe, his music will always be timeless. The younger generation should continue to draw inspiration from him.”

When asked about 2Baba’s silence amid the ongoing drama, Ebubedike-Igbokwe described it as intentional, adding that the singer will address key issues at the right time.
