APC Fires Back At Peter Obi: ‘Your Criticism Of Tinubu’s Vacation Is Noise, Not Leadership

The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has fired back at former presidential candidate Peter Obi over his criticism of President Bola Tinubu’s private vacation.

In a statement issued by its spokesperson, Mogaji Seye Oladejo, the party dismissed Obi’s remarks as a “habitual knee-jerk reaction,” describing him as a “professional complainer-in-chief” rather than a responsible opposition figure. Oladejo argued that Nigeria deserves constructive opposition rooted in ideas and credible alternatives, not endless criticism.

He questioned Obi’s constant commentary on Tinubu’s activities, stressing that governance in the modern era allows leaders to remain fully briefed and in control, even while on vacation. According to Oladejo, Obi’s approach trivialises governance and reduces serious national issues to “social media talking points.”

Oladejo further advised Obi’s team to guide him toward a more measured style of engagement, warning that perpetual complaints risk eroding his image as a statesman. He maintained that the APC-led government remains focused on economic recovery, security, and strengthening public institutions, while Obi offers “nothing but soundbites, sermons, and perpetual complaints.”

“Peter Obi’s comments amount to noise, not leadership or patriotism,” Oladejo concluded. “If he has meaningful contributions to make, he should present them responsibly. Otherwise, silence is a more honourable option. For us in the APC, under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, our focus remains firmly on governance, not political theatre.”
