2Baba’s Mum Comes To His Defence: I Know What He Can And Can’t Do

Rose Idibia, mother of Nigerian music star Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, has dismissed reports and allegations surrounding her son, insisting that she knows what he is capable of doing and what he is not.

According to Bush Radio Academy, the singer has remained in the public spotlight over his personal life since announcing his separation from actress Annie Macaulay in January 2025 and later confirming his relationship with Natasha Osawaru, a member of the Edo State House of Assembly, in February 2025.

Since then, 2Baba has faced various controversies and public discussions, including reports concerning his relationship with Osawaru. However, his mother said she remains confident in her knowledge of her son despite the numerous claims circulating in the media.

Speaking in an interview with Vanguard, Rose said the continuous criticism and accusations directed at 2Baba could affect him emotionally, but knowing the truth about himself has helped him remain focused.

She explained that the singer has been able to withstand the pressure because he understands what he has done and what he has not done.

“What kept him going is that some of the things that have been published about him in the dailies and online are not true. If people are attacking you from every quarter, but you know yourself, it might hurt you, but because you know the truth, you can weather it,” she said.

Rose added that she knows her son personally and therefore has confidence in her understanding of his character and actions.

“We know the truth about him. He’s my son. I know what he can do, and I know what he cannot do,” she added.

She further noted that celebrities can sometimes find themselves under pressure from people around them and expressed concern over what she described as false reports published about her son across newspapers and social media platforms.

According to Rose, despite the challenges and controversies surrounding him, 2Baba has remained focused on his career and has achieved significant success in the Nigerian music industry.

She said she was grateful that the singer knows what he wants and has continued to move forward despite the criticism and public scrutiny.
