The Controller General of the Federal Fire Service, Samuel Adeyemi, charged 2Face with promoting behavioral change and raising public awareness on fire prevention nationwide. The ceremony, themed “Building a Culture of Fire Safety Across Nigeria: Overcoming the ‘Not My Portion’ Mentality,” was attended on his behalf by Deputy Controller General Aliyu Tambari.
The National Fire Safety Week aimed to instill in Nigerians the importance of proactive fire prevention, challenging the pervasive mindset that fire disasters are remote possibilities. The week’s activities included a virtual town hall, presentations of Bankers’ Cheques under the Group Life Insurance Scheme to families of fallen and injured fire officers, and the award of the “CG’s Cup” and medals sponsored by Kabir Lateef to recognize exemplary personnel.
Throughout the week, fire officers carried out extensive public sensitization in schools, markets, and major commercial hubs, complemented by street roadshows, drills, and practical demonstrations designed to equip citizens with fire-prevention knowledge. Adeyemi described public response as “remarkable,” noting heightened engagement and renewed national commitment to fire safety.
