The Commissioner of Education, Yusuf Sulaiman Jibia, confirmed that the measure was necessary to protect students and staff as authorities implement enhanced safety strategies for schools. The Katsina State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education also urged parents, teachers, and the general public to comply with the directive while security officials continue to assess the situation.

Jibia emphasized that the temporary shutdown comes despite ongoing examinations, stressing that safeguarding lives and property takes precedence over academic activities. He further noted that the closure will remain in effect until a comprehensive security review is conducted in high-risk areas.

“The state government assures citizens that normal school operations will resume once security assessments are complete and adequate protection measures are in place,” the Commissioner stated.
