He noted that principles such as equity, participation, accessibility, empowerment, social cohesion, and sustainability have guided the state’s initiatives for economic and social progress.
Agoro acknowledged that the honorees have made significant contributions across various sectors, including education, infrastructure, social protection, gender equality, healthcare, technology, job creation, and environmental sustainability—areas integral to the state’s strategy for inclusive growth.
“This group of awardees has demonstrated unwavering dedication, loyalty, and resilience in their service to Lagos State for over 30 years, making them truly deserving of this recognition,” Agoro stated. He assured them that their contributions are valued and encouraged them to maintain a strong sense of responsibility in their duties.
He also urged other public servants to follow their example, emphasizing that the celebration of Public Service Week highlights the vital role of civil servants in societal growth. Agoro expressed pride in the Lagos State Public Service, calling it a leader among public services in Nigeria.
Encouraging public servants to focus on their responsibilities and embrace new technologies for skill enhancement, Agoro reaffirmed the government’s commitment to providing a supportive environment for public servants, with staff welfare remaining a top priority.
As part of the day’s activities, Agoro introduced a lecture titled “Breaking Barriers: Public Service Strategies for Inclusive Development.” He underscored the importance of public servants as custodians of public trust, responsible for delivering quality services to all citizens without discrimination. He reiterated the administration’s focus on inclusive development, noting the recent revision of the state’s developmental agenda from “THEMES” to “THEMES Plus” under Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, which emphasizes social inclusion, gender equality, and youth development to help everyone reach their full potential.
