Acting on credible intelligence regarding their involvement in various internet-based fraudulent activities, the dawn operation led to the capture of 18 suspects in the Dawaki area, with an additional 12 arrests made across different parts of the capital city.
The EFCC team, prompted by tips from concerned citizens, conducted swift raids on the suspects, catching them by surprise.
During the operation, authorities confiscated 23 mobile phones, 4 laptops, and 4 vehicles from the suspects, suspected to be proceeds from their illicit endeavors.
According to insider reports, the suspects, predominantly young adults, were found to be engaged in a range of cybercrimes, including romance scams, phishing, and other forms of online fraud.
Once investigations are finalized, the suspects will face charges in court.
