$400 Every Week – Lady Allegedly Abandons Nursing School Over Mother’s Babysitting Demand

A 26-year-old single mother has reportedly withdrawn from a nursing programme after her mother allegedly demanded $400 every week to care for her two children while she attended classes.

According to Bush Radio Academy, the story was shared on X by a user identified as @NasheCeezet_zw, who claimed that the woman is her sister. The post stated that the woman had been working as a certified nursing assistant (CNA), earning about $19 per hour, before gaining admission into a two-year nursing programme.

The woman reportedly hoped to become a registered nurse and had asked her mother to assist with childcare while she completed her studies. According to the account, she proposed that her mother look after the children during the programme and said she would compensate her after becoming a nurse.

The X user claimed that their mother initially agreed to the arrangement, reportedly telling her daughter that family members should support one another.

However, the arrangement allegedly changed when the woman started nursing school. On her first day of classes, her mother reportedly informed her that she would charge $200 per week for each child, bringing the total childcare cost to $400 weekly.

The woman was said to have been surprised by the demand because she had understood that her mother would provide the childcare without charge. According to the post, the mother allegedly responded that she was not a free daycare service and insisted that the weekly payment would be required if the children were to remain in her care.

The X user further claimed that the woman earned approximately $760 per week from her CNA job, meaning the proposed childcare payment would have consumed more than half of her reported weekly earnings.

Faced with the alleged financial burden, the woman reportedly left the nursing programme during her second week. The post claimed that she also lost a $1,200 deposit paid toward her nursing education.

The situation reportedly generated further controversy after the mother allegedly described her daughter as lazy in a Facebook post, claiming that she had been given an opportunity to attend nursing school but chose to quit.

However, the X user disputed that characterization, arguing that the woman did not abandon her nursing ambitions because of a lack of determination, but because she could not afford the childcare arrangement allegedly imposed by her mother.

The account has since sparked debate online over the responsibilities of grandparents toward their grandchildren, whether adult children should pay relatives for childcare, and whether the mother was simply establishing a financial boundary or unintentionally making it difficult for her daughter to pursue her nursing career.
