The accident occurred around 4:30 pm on Thursday, July 4th. The driver of a commercial Mercedes Actros truck, registered as WKR824XA, lost control when one of the truck’s tires burst, causing the vehicle to overturn on the road.

Margaret Onabe, the acting Sector Public Education Officer of the Anambra State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps, confirmed the incident. According to Onabe, two male adults were involved in the crash. One of them sustained injuries while the conductor tragically lost his life.

“The fatal road traffic crash was likely caused by a tire burst. Eyewitnesses reported that the driver lost control of the truck due to the burst tire, leading to the tragic outcome,” Onabe stated.

Before the FRSC rescue team from RS5.3 Nteje arrived at the scene, personnel from the Ogidi Police Division had already transported the deceased victim to the morgue.
