Ryan Garner, aged 17, has become the youngest Black person and the first African American from Concord to earn his private pilot’s license from Goose Creek Airport in North Carolina……… CONTINUE READING 

Initially not aspiring to be a pilot, Garner shared with Channel 9, “I originally wanted to work on the ground crew, bringing in planes or guiding them in. It was talking with a Delta pilot about flight school that got me interested in flying.”

Garner’s accomplishments were recognized by the City of Concord last week, where Mayor Dusch presented him with an official proclamation.
