Unconfirmed reports indicate that three youths were killed in Suleja LGA of Niger State when the protest turned violent. The victims are said to have been stoned to death, while over 15 others are receiving medical treatment at facilities in Suleja and Gwagwalada, Abuja.
According to a statement from Police spokesman Wasiu Abiodun, the miscreants attacked the Tafa LGA Secretariat along the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway early in the morning. They set the building on fire, burned two cars, and vandalized two others. The hoodlums also looted valuables before being dispersed by police and security forces, who arrested 11 individuals armed with dangerous weapons, including firearms. Some looted items were recovered.
The police responded quickly to blockages on the Kaduna-Abuja Expressway and Old Toll-gate, clearing the area and reopening the road for traffic.
Abiodun stated that an investigation is underway to apprehend other suspects and warned the public, particularly parents and residents, to control their wards. He emphasized that violent demonstrations, destruction of public property, and looting will not be tolerated and will be dealt with according to the law.
