Operatives from the Bauchi State Police Command have detained two individuals found with a homemade AK-47 rifle and ammunition at Boto Market in the Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area. The suspects, 18-year-old Abdulgafar Mohammed and 25-year-old Yusuf Isa, both hailing from Barkin Ladi in Plateau State, were reportedly attempting to sell the firearm for N580,000.

According to preliminary investigations, the suspects traveled from Plateau State to Boto Market with the intent to sell the weapon.

In a statement issued on Thursday, SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, the Command’s spokesperson, emphasized that these arrests are part of ongoing efforts to address the spread of small and light arms in the state. He added that a comprehensive investigation is in progress and the suspects will face court proceedings once the investigation concludes.
