On Wednesday, the Osun State Police Command announced the arrest of seven individuals involved in selling human parts and water used to bathe corpses. Giwa-Alade detailed that the suspects, including Olaniyan Azeez, Balogun Temitope, Oladapo Hammed, Kazeem Rasaq, and Asaka Rauf, were apprehended following a tip-off. It was reported that Daniel, who worked at a mortuary in Ipetu-Ijesa, had been selling corpses’ remains to native doctors. Daniel admitted to working with Okunade to sell water used to bathe the corpses.
During the investigation, police conducted searches at the suspects’ homes. They recovered fragments of what is believed to be a human skull from Rauf and Hammed’s residences, and at Temitope’s home, they found a female pant and a notebook with ritual instructions.
Additionally, the police arrested three individuals—Oluwafemi Fagbuyi, Joy Faseyiku, and Alabede Janet—for promoting the Yoruba Nation in the state. Fagbuyi was detained at Obada Market in Ikire for urging people to reject allegiance to Nigeria, claiming the country ceased to exist in 2014. The case was handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department, and after thorough investigation, Faseyiku and Janet were also charged. The suspects have been taken to the Federal High Court.
