Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, a former National Publicity Secretary of the now-defunct New Peoples Democratic Party (nPDP), has criticized the appointment of Nyesom Wike as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), attributing it to Wike’s legacy of “wickedness, administrative incompetence, general ineptitude, and anti-democratic tendencies.” Eze alleged that President Bola Tinubu appointed Wike to punish the residents of Rivers State and the FCT for voting against him in the 2023 presidential election……CONTINUE READING
In a statement released to the media, Eze described Wike as “poisonous venom” unleashed by Tinubu. He claimed, “Tinubu unleashed Wike on the inhabitants of the FCT as a punishment for their overwhelming support against him during the 2023 presidential election, intending to create turmoil in Rivers State that would deter investors, while keeping Lagos State safe for them.”
Eze’s comments came in response to Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, who suggested that Wike was appointed as FCT Minister due to the APC’s lack of capable leaders. Eze strongly disagreed with this assertion, stating that it was “embarrassing to attribute brilliance to an uncultured dimwit and political nuisance like Wike.”
“I read my friend Governor Bala Mohammed’s claim that the APC appointed Wike as FCT Minister because the PDP has many brilliant leaders. While I acknowledge that the PDP has credible figures, attributing brilliance to someone like Wike is an unfair blunder,” Eze stated.
Eze elaborated on Wike’s governance, asserting, “Wike’s tenure was marked by a destruction of democratic principles, characterized by authoritarianism that hindered societal progress.” He described Wike as a leader who epitomizes unfortunate developments in society, stating that such individuals should not hold positions of power due to the “despicable evil” they have committed against the Nigerian people.
Criticizing Wike’s political maneuvering, Eze remarked, “He plays a dangerous form of politics that undermines democracy, oscillating between the APC and PDP without a clear ideology.” He characterized Wike’s actions as those of an “errand boy and habitual betrayer.”
Eze concluded by expressing that the APC is vigilant regarding Wike’s tendencies, asserting that Tinubu’s decision to appoint him was not due to a lack of capable leaders within the APC, but rather a choice for individuals who are “bootlickers and political tradesmen” devoid of character. He argued that this appointment has contributed to the APC’s diminished electoral credibility, making it a “laughing stock” in the political arena.
