Workers have voiced that their grievances remain unaddressed, leading to this drastic action. Dr. Ejor Michael, Secretary of the TUC, stated, “This decision follows NAFDAC Management’s failure to address the critical issues outlined in our communiqué within the given timeframe.”

According to the communiqué issued on October 4, 2024, several key issues remain unresolved, including a review of the 2024 promotion examination results, appointments for Directors of Public Affairs and Special Duties, and training placements for staff from the North West and North East regions. Other concerns involve reforms of promotion examination content and criteria, payment of pending burial expenses, life insurance, and repatriation allowances.

In a statement signed by the agency’s Resident Media Consultant, Sayo Akintola, Adeyeye asserted that the accusations made by the striking workers are unfounded.

“NAFDAC is committed to following the rules regarding promotions and workers’ welfare. We conduct the exams but do not control the number of promotions, as this is determined by the Head of Service of the Federation based on available government funding for vacancies,” she explained.

Adeyeye also addressed concerns regarding travel allowances, stating that NAFDAC’s estacode policy is in line with standard practices and that staff are paid their due allowances promptly upon submission of travel evidence. “We have never owed any staff any travel allowance,” she added.
